Senior Officers and Directors
Irwin Olian -Chief Executive Officer, President, Chairman and Director
Mr. Olian is an entrepreneur with a background in finance and law. During the past six years,
he has developed a business as a self-employed private investment banker and business consultant
to emerging companies, in fields ranging from biotechnology to high technology. His clients have
included NASDAQ companies. He serves as chief executive officer of Famous Entertainment, Ltd.,
a privately-held independent motion picture company. Mr. Olian was a co-founder and principal
shareholder of North American Scientific, Inc., a Los Angeles based manufacturer of radioisotope
products for the medical industry, including seeds implanted for the treatment of prostate cancer.
NASI has grown from a startup to a successful NASDAQ company.
Mr. Olian's prior finance experience includes a position as Senior Vice President, Investments,
with Sutro & Co. Inc., an established investment banking and brokerage firm in San Francisco. He also
served as Vice President of Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. Mr. Olian's legal experience includes a position
as a Senior Attorney for Warner Bros. Inc at Burbank Studios, a position as business affairs executive
with talent agency International Creative Management, and a position as a corporate attorney with Wyman,
Bautzer, Rothman & Kuchel in Los Angeles, and Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in San Francisco.
He graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in Economics and received his law degree
from Harvard Law School. Mr. Olian gained knowledge of the mining industry as a shareholder of a
number of exploratory mining companies.
Limor Rubin, CA - Chief Financial Officer, Director
Ms. Rubin is a Chartered Accountant (Canada), a Certified Public Accountant
(Israel) and holds a Bachelor in Accounting and Economics from Tel-Aviv
University. In addition to experience in the mining industry, Ms. Rubin has
experience with the financial services industry, mutual funds, insurance,
real estate as well as the public sector.
Prior to joining the Company and Sacre-Coeur, Ms. Rubin served for 11 years
in public accounting practice. She served as Accounting Manager for KPMG and as a Senior Accountant with both KPMG and Ernst & Young.
Ms. Rubin is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
Gregory Sparks – Director
Mr. Sparks, a registered Professional Engineer, has been the principal of GBS PC, a mining consulting firm, since 1994. He has also been the General Manager of Genex Construction LLC, a heavy civil construction firm, since 2002. He was formerly Vice President, Development of Echo Bay Mines Ltd. from 1985 to 1993. Mr. Sparks has a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from the Missouri School of Mines. Mr. Sparks devotes approximately 25% of his time toward the Company's affairs.
Ardito Martohardjono – Corporate Secretary, Vice President of Laboratory Services, Director
Mr. Martohardjono has 15 years of progressive experience in
the mineral exploration industry, focusing on sample
preparation prior to chemical analysis and assay of geological
samples as a lab technician and supervisor with the two
leading geochemical laboratories in Canada and the United
States. During the past five years he has served as Sample
Preparation Supervisor for Bondar Clegg Canada Ltd. In Vancouver
and Branch Manager of Bondar Clegg’s Fairbanks, Alaska
laboratory, as well as Prep Client Services Office Coordinator
and Sample Preparation Supervisor for Chemex Labs Ltd.
(now ALS Chemex). Among his many responsibilities was ensuring
compliance with ISO quality control standards.
Dr. Edward A. Schiller – Director, Senior Geological Consultant, Diamond and Gemstone Programs
Dr. Schiller brings over 30 years experience in mineral exploration, project management, acquisitions, financing, joint venture negotiations and corporate governance to the Company. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he graduated with a degree in geology from Michigan State University in 1956, and obtained his Ph.D. in mineralogy at the University of Utah in 1963. Dr. Schiller was the Resident Geologist of the Northwest Territories Geological Survey of Canada from 1964-1966. He has lived and worked in Canada, the United States, England, Australia, Brazil, Columbia, and has conducted mineral exploration projects in several South and Central American, African and South East Asian countries, including Madagascar. Dr. Schiller has consulted for the United Nations on a gemstone project in Mozambique and a mining project in Greece. He has visited other countries on mining related projects, including Vietnam, Botswana and diamond mines in Yakutia, Russia and China.
Dr. Schiller is a former director of Dia Met Minerals Ltd., and is best known for supervising the drilling which led to discovery of the first diamond-bearing kimberlite at Pointe Lake in 1991 (now part of the Ekati Mine production). He has written extensively on the Lac de Gras diamond discoveries and has presented several papers on this subject at national and international meetings. Dr. Schiller writes for several Canadian and international magazines on mining and mineral exploration and maintains a consulting practice.
Geological Team
Andre Audet, P. Eng. - Chief Geological Consultant
Mr. Audet joined Dome Mines Group in 1974 and was appointed Chief Geologist at the Sigma Mine
in Quebec, an important producing gold mine with a history of underground and open pit operations
for over sixty years. He served in this capacity until 1987. During such period, he was also
responsible for regional exploration in the Abitibi area of northwest Quebec. Mr. Audet has served
as an international mining consultant since 1987, focusing on exploratory activities and property
acquisition and evaluation, primarily for gold projects. He has explored some of the world's most
remote locations, with extended assignments in West Africa, South America and Asia for a variety
of clients.
Mr. Audet graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1972 with a B.A.Sc. degree
in Geology. Early in his career, he worked as an exploration geologist in British Columbia and
the Yukon. Mr. Audet is fluent in French.
Dr. Andrew E. Moore, Ph. D. Geology - Senior Geologist, Vice President of Diamond Exploration
Dr. Andrew E. Moore, a South African national, received his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Cape Town.
He is a seasoned diamond geologist with over twenty years experience in Africa, having worked on major exploration
projects for a wide range of companies including de Beers, Rio Tinto, Falconbridge and Trans Hex Group. Andy is
well-known in the industry for his successful interpretations of kimberlitic indicator mineral anomalies in the
Kalahari Desert environment of Namibia and Botswana, where he has been working most recently.
Dr. Reinhard Ramdohr. PH.D Geology - Project Manager, Uranium exploration
program in Madagascar
Dr. Ramdohr is a highly experienced exploration geologist with over 30 years of international experience covering uranium, gold, base metals and gemstones. He has overseen grassroots mineral exploration programs in diverse settings on nearly all continents. His African experience is extensive, covering projects in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, Central African Republic and Madagascar. In Madagascar, where he has worked on several occasions, he discovered a significant sapphire deposit.
Roger Billington, P.Geo. -- Senior Geological Consultant
Roger Billington, P.Geo., has recently joined the Company’s nickel team as a Senior Geological Consultant and will be
participating in the site visit as well as development of the exploration program. Mr. Billington brings over 25 years
of international exploration experience, including extensive work in identification, evaluation, exploration and
development of nickel laterite opportunities worldwide. He served as Manager of Laterite Exploration for
Falconbridge from 1995 through 2002.
Dr. Felix V. Kaminsky, Ph.D. and D.Sc. – Senior Diamond Consultant
Born in Russia, Dr. Kaminsky graduated from the Moscow State University and Moscow Oil Institute, receiving Ph.D.
and D.Sc. degrees in geology and mineralogy. His extensive international diamond exploration experience includes
work in Russia, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Algeria, Canada and Venezuela. Dr. Kaminsky is highly renowned for his work as
a chief diamond research scientist for the Ministry of Geology of the USSR, where he discovered the first diamonds
in the Arkhangelsk area, leading to discovery of the now famous Arkhangelsk diamond deposit in northern European
Russia. Dr. Kaminsky is presently Director of the Institute of Diamonds of the Russia Academy of Natural Sciences.
He also serves as President of KM Diamond Exploration Ltd., an international geological consulting firm.
He has written extensively on his prognostication techniques and models.
Francois M.J. Lampietti, M.Sc. in Geology – Senior Geologist
Mr. Lampietti is a senior economic geologist with over 35 years' experience worldwide. He has worked extensively
in Africa, South America, Europe and Russia, overseeing exploration and development activities related to a wide
variety of minerals. Recently, he has been working in Madagascar as a consultant to the U.S. Geological Survey,
for whom he has continuing work responsibilities. He has worked over the years for an impressive client list that
includes companies such as Newmont, Anglo American, Edlow, Asarco and Cominco, amongst others. Mr. Lampietti speaks
fluent French and resides in the Washington, D.C. area. He received a M.Sc. in Geology and a B.S. in Mining from the
University of California, Berkeley.
Mark Stewardson,P.Geol.- Senior Coal Consultant
Mr. Stewardson has been a profession geologist for 30 years working in Asia, Africa and Australia. He specializes
in coal exploration and mining. A significant portion of his career has been involved with critical assessment of
mines and prospects from geological, technical and economic asspects and for purposes of coal resource estimation and auditing.
Mr. Stewardson has considerable experience at senior management level in underground and open pit mines exploiting
coal, copper/cobalt and chrome.
Danae Voormeij, M.Sc. - Field Exploration Geologist
Ms. Voormeji is currently managing field operations at the Company's Dabolava Gold Project. She brings many years of international mining experience in field exporations. She recently served as Regional Exploration Geologist for Cambior Inc. at Rosebel Gold Mines in Surinam, Guyana Shield Greenstone Belt gold-hosted quartz vein deposits.
Dr. Norbert M. Mitsch, Ph. D. Geology - Senior Consultant
Dr. Norbert M. Mitsch, an Austrian citizen resident in South Africa, received his Ph.D. in Geology, Petrology and
Mineralogy from the University of Vienna. He has extensive experience ranging over twenty years as an exploration
geologist in Africa, where he has worked for a wide variety of companies on projects including diamonds, gold,
platinum and base metals. He recently has been working in Madagascar. Norbert’s diamond experience is extensive,
having supervised field exploration and drilling programs in India, Sierra Leone, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia.
The Gondwana-era juxtaposition of India and Madagascar and presence of some of the old Indian craton in Madagascar
suggests possible geological analogies for investigation.
Andrianirina Fanomezana(Fafah) Ramboasalama – Resident Manager, PAM Madagascar, SARL & Southern Africa Regional Manager
Mr. Ramboasalama is an environmental engineer with over 8 years of experience in rural agricultural
development and environmental management throughout Madagascar. He worked for 3 years with the Financial
Company for Industry and Trade (COFIC) and was responsible for developing agri-business investment projects.
In 1998 he was employed by CARE International in Madagascar where he was the National Program Manager for
their Integrated Community Development Project, which worked in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation
Society within Masoala National Park, Madagascar's largest protected National Park. He was responsible
for designing and managing environmental and natural resources management and community development activities.
He has extensive administrative and managerial skills, which will be invaluable to the Company as Resident
Manager of its Madagascar subsidiary. He received his Bachelors degree in Agronomics from the University of Antananarivo, in Madagascar. He has served as the Company’s Resident Manager in Madagascar for the past four years.
Olivier Rakotomalala,
Associate Resident Manager in Madagascar
and Technical Director
Mr. Rakotomalala is a Civil Engineer who is among Madagascar’s leading GIS experts with over 10 years experience in design, implementation and exploitation of geographic databases. These skills are invaluable in connection with the Company’s mining exploration activities. His prior experience includes a position with The National Geographic Institute of Madagascar, where he was responsible for acquisition and management of data from surveying, aerial photography, remote studies and the like. He also worked for several years for CARE International, where he was responsible for designing, monitoring and evaluating social and economic development projects of that organization. He joined the Company in 2003 as its Technical Director and has overseen the Company’s mining claims acquisition and management of its properties in Madagascar. Mr. Rakotomalala received his B.Sc. degree in Geography from the National Geographic School of Paris, and subsequently got his Civil Engineering diploma from the Polytechnical School of the University of Antananarivo.
